Camp Yawgoog

4.5 miles; hopkinton, ri

the “usual suspects” and i did the loop around both hidden lake and yawgoog pond. nice now that the scouts are gone and we have it to ourselves again. and i’d forgotten how much fun this loop is, what with all the boulders to clamber over and through. nothing seriously difficult, it just kind of breaks up the monotony.

speaking of rocks, this rock face right at the start of the hike is where we usually see vultures. i think they roost near here. but no vultures today, alas.

hidden lake

hidden lake

yeah, another shot of hidden lake. it’s so pretty right now, and likely to get even prettier as the fall foliage colors emerge.

our four-legged “suspect,” fidget the corgi, can’t resist water. here she is in hidden lake.

because this hike goes through the actual campgrounds of yawgoog, i’m not posting it online, because theoretically you need permission to go through the camp itself. however, and you didn’t hear it here, a bit of googling will get you an excellent trail map of the camp. well, except for the fact that north is on the righthand side of the map. ack! my pet peeve rears its ugly head. north goes on top people. on top!
