2014 North South Trail Trek

Just wanted to point my 3 or 4 regular readers to the Great Swamp Press blog, where there is info on the 2014 North-South Trail Trek. I can’t make the first two legs, but I did those last year. Maybe I’ll be able to do leg 3; I’m going to register for it. See you all in the woods!

cool! leg 3 is april 5th, and it’s the longest one, 17 miles, and all road-walking. i very much hope to be in shape to do 17 miles by april 5th, but it all depends on the weather between now and then.

Wow, 17 miles of road walking? I don’t think I’ll enjoy day 3 very much. Then again, it sure beats being stuck indoors all day.

i was mistaken about part of my comment above. i went back for another look at the book. this isn’t the all-road leg. it starts at browning mill pond in arcadia and goes through nicholas farm wma in coventry. it is on hiking trails and gravel roads, and part of the way on an old railroad bed. it IS, however, almost 17 miles long… 16.58 to be exact.

Thanks for the update. I dont thnk my 3 mile walk around town is good prep for a 17 mile hike. It will be a tough day for sure.

ha! you and me both, dude. i haven’t been out since january 17th! i’m just hoping the snow and ice melt quickly enough that i can get back into form for that 3rd monster leg.

the all road leg is the next one, #4, and it’s 11 miles. looks like a small part is gravel road, though.
