An Accidental Group Hike

what if you gave a hike and nobody came? that happened to me today.

i was supposed to lead a providence county hiking club hike on the grills in westerly today, but nobody showed up. fortunately it was also a scheduled hike for another hiking club, the yankee trailers, who did show up. they invited me to join them and i’m very glad i did. i even got to meet one of the legends of rhode island hiking, ellie heyder, of “walks in the watershed” fame. good bunch, and i might join them again.
