Another Grills Hike

i was looking for someplace fairly local to hike today, and i haven’t been here all summer, so… the water levels were surprisingly low, not that that should shock me, but it kind of did. this is a property, however, that never disappoints. it’s a great walk. and because i crossed the polly coon bridge onto the hopkinton side, i got to see the normally underwater peninsula trail over there, too.
not a lot of color left except for the showy blueberry foliage and some beech trees.
both the polly coon bridge and the tomaquag brook bridge are so impressive. i checked, and it’s just under a mile between the bridges. so worth the hike!
this is the river from the hopkinton side at the spot where the trails come closest to each other. there is a trail literally right across the river from here that’s on the westerly side.
i know it’s kind of hard to see in this photo but this is usually an unbroken stretch of water, and right now it’s got hummocks and small islands all through it.
you can find the grills in the hikefinder.
