Arcadia, Mount Tom Trail

today was a “usual suspects” hike. the weather continues to be cool and very comfortable for hiking, and we had bright sunshine. lots of stuff in bloom. i’ve been missing arcadia, and i’m glad to have finally gotten back there.
the mount tom trail is a very interesting “out and back.” there are quite a few different kinds of environments. this stretch is downright luxurious to walk on.
fidget, our newest “usual suspect,” is seen here inspecting some ongoing bridge work. once finished, this bridge will cross the wood river at the arcadia check station, eliminating a hair-raising stroll along route 165. i seriously can’t wait. i hate that small stretch of road with cars and trucks whizzing by at highway speeds.
here is fidget cooling off in parris brook.
oooh, the mountain laurel is seriously about ready to pop. i must try and get to duval trail or the laurel loop in the pachaug state forest next week.
this happened. not sure what is wrong here, but apparently SOMETHING is.
you can find mount tom in the hikefinder. trailhead, trail map courtesy of the amc. the area labeled RIDEM Parking Area is actually “appie crossing,” so named for and by the appalachian mountain club members who maintain these trails.
Love that swimming shot. Does this mean she is an official suspect now?
any hiker with 4-inch long legs who can complete the vin gormley trail is a usual suspect in my book. welcome, fidget!
