Barn Island WMA

started off intending to do the 3-mile loop, but it soon became obvious i wouldn’t be able to finish, so i cut it short by taking an alternate route out to palmer neck rd. i saw some hunters with dogs out shooting ducks, so reminder, it’s hunting season. don’t forget your blaze orange! it was a beautiful day, and barn island never disappoints. i think it’s the prettiest spot i hike.
i stopped in the middle of the marsh trail to try out the panorama feature on my new iphone. i think the results are pretty decent. as always, click to embiggen the panoramas.
very nice trail signage. this is the spot where the loop begins. to get all recursive on you, i added the yellow arrow to show where the sign is. on the sign. i know, right?
pretty yellow crabapples in all their glory against the very blue sky.
another shot of the marsh looking south, from further north in the preserve.
here is the track i used today. again, recorded with my iphone and the gaia gps app. barn island is in the hikefinder.
