Bates Loop

3.4 miles; West Greenwich, RI
This Unusual Suspects hike was originally planned as a lollipop loop on Tillinghast Management Area to include part of the Flintlock Trail and the whole red-blazed Bates Loop. Unfortunately, one of the Suspects had a water-crossing incident and got one leg (and shoe and sock) very wet, so we cut the hike short and just retraced our steps. Still a good day to be out, though. The weather was just right for hiking.
I’ve blogged about this loop before, if you need more info on it. This entire trail complex is really quite extensive. You could probably get 11-12 miles in here, if you include the Pratt Conservation Area, which abuts Wickaboxet Management Area.
