[Editor’s Note: It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged about a hike, and, actually, a long time since I’ve done any amount of hiking, family issues and yard work having interfered in a big way with my schedule. And please note the date of this hike: April 29, almost 2 months ago! Apologies, and I will be doing a bit of catch up in the near future.]
This was an absolutely lovely PCHC hike with a crowd of folks who were all lots of fun. It was a beautiful night, even if the trails were quite muddy in spots.
We started off a bit before sunset with a group of maybe 20 people.
Pretty sure these are pussy willows, once they’ve gone past the soft fuzzy stage we’re all familiar with. They are the flowers of the pussy willow tree.
Obviously somebody planted these, but they were still lovely backlit by the low spring sunshine.
The “golden hour” light was inspiring to all of us.
I grew up in Rhode Island, and have spent many days visiting Beavertail, but I never explored the many trails that make up this state park.
And the full moon rose, too.
This is a glorious spot to watch the sunset and moonrise, and many thanks to Ernie Germani for organizing and leading the hike.
You can find out more about Beavertail State Park from this state of RI web page. As always, click the image above for details about this hike and to download the gps track.
