Destruction Brook Woods Preserve

5.6 miles; dartmouth, ma
this was another providence county hiking club group hike on a beautifully maintained and blazed property belonging to the town of dartmouth, ma. almost all level and flat trails. it was a beautiful brisk day with good company. and this was not a remote and seldom-visited spot—we saw lots of folks with dogs, mountain bikers, other hikers, and even one lady on horseback. the horse’s name was charlie… get it? charlie horse? meh.
don’t know who alice was, but this is her spillway. the trails cross and recross destruction brook quite a few times.
i have read that wintergreen berries are edible and supposedly quite tasty. i may have to give them a try next time i’m out.
and yet another fixer-upper in the woods. it was hard to tell exactly what kind of car it was, but it had a straight-six engine, which was, uh chrysler? somebody guessed maverick.
i have added this hike to the hikefinder.
