DuVal Trail

this trail system is larger than indicated on the published map. once you get there, you find maps at all trail intersections, and there is a lollipop loop to a pond to the west and a loop that goes north up to gravelly hill rd. and back, neither of which are on the online map. i did those extra trails only today; too hot and humid for the full duval experience.
this is a section of the polly’s rock loop trail. very flat and level. there is hardly any other part of the duval trail that is like this. so i’m saying, this is NOT representative of the whole trail.
this is from the lollipop loop that goes out to bullhead pond and back. this is as close as you get to the shore of the pond.
i have no idea what these mushrooms are besides polypores. but they were so darned cute!
i didn’t find any edible mushrooms on the trail, but had i brought a pail, i could have gotten at least a quart of wild blueberries. they were everywhere on this trail. soooo good.
and really? a fairy door?
you can find the duval trail in the hikefinder. i have replaced the map in this entry with the complete trail system map that i’ve cobbled together from walking it and taking pictures of the trail maps posted at intersections. the mileage is quite approximate, and i don’t count return trips. ymmv, literally.
