DuVal Trail

today was a long tour of the duval trail system. i hiked both the the whole blue-blazed trail, which is a 2-1/2 mile out-and-back, and then added in the yellow-blazed “lynn’s loop” and the red-blazed “polly’s rock loop,” which added another mile or so.
i usually hike this by cutting through the old quaker cemetery along an unmarked trail that hooks up with the blue-blazed trail, but today i went just a bit further west along old post road and started at the actual trail head, where i noticed this plaque.
it was a pretty good day for viewing rhode island sound and block island from the overlook, which is about a mile in from the trail head.
and i found this festive little reminder of the season at the intersection of several trails. fun!
you can find the duval trail in the hikefinder.
