Francis Carter Preserve

beautiful day for a usual suspects hike… temps were reasonable and humidity was low. and the francis carter is such a pretty place. i, however, managed to trip on a root and go ass over teakettle, but then everyone was able to show off their first aid kits and practice their mad wilderness first aid skillz, so it was all good. only thing injured was my dignity.
i cannot take credit for this shot… my extreme spider-phobia prevented me from getting close enough to it, so one of my co-hikers did the actual shooting. it was a perfectly beautiful (from a distance) web. it looked like a cd it was so perfect. and as it turned out, the creator was nowhere to be seen.
as you can see from this and the next shot, the francis carter is a wonderfully open forest because all the undergrowth is so low-growing.
and like the parker woodland, the francis carter has a few “mysterious cairns,” too. nowhere near as many, but hey, you can’t have everything.
Glad to hear you are ok after your tumble. Join the club!
