Francis Carter Preserve in the Cold

4 miles   2.4 mph

when i got up this morning and it was 7-degrees at my house (WHOA!), i considered going back to bed, but this was a usual suspects hike, so i went anyway. glad i did, sort of. i mean, it was cold. but once you get going it’s not too bad. the footing was fine with about an inch of fine, powdery, dry snow.

we saw this cool little vignette repeated through the woods… a hole with a set of tiny little tracks radiating out; a mouse heading out to eat and running back.

a chilly but pretty day

a chilly but pretty day

and really, the day was quite lovely. crisp, clear air and a blue, blue sky.

On a day like this, you have no choice but getting your motor running. Fast. How clever, that mouse.
