walked the perimeter of this preserve, including the little “split rock” loop trail. it was a workout, because it was a mix of melting snowpack, ice, and mud. and francis carter is a lot of ups and downs, too. beautiful day.
saw this one spot, along the red trail, i think, that will be an amazing vernal pool in a few weeks, fsm willing. i will make a note to return to hear the peepers and wood frogs a-going at it! ah, spring. can’t be too far now…
and here is the famous split rock of split rock trail. again, scale is always a problem in these shots, but i estimate the height of the whole thing is about 15 feet. three me’s, basically.
