The Grills Preserve

★★★★★  5.37 miles

so it shouldn’t be a total loss, i scooted out today when i thought i saw a break in the rain. wow, just wow. beautiful spot by the pawcatuck river in westerly. well maintained, well marked trails, 20:80 hikey:walkey, one looong stretch of climby. the first part of the walk was on an old canal towpath or i’m not a [blackstone] valley girl. saw swans, a canoe camp, a revolutionary war era cemetery, a view of 10 miles or more from a big hill… more than 5 miles walking in all. and found two (2!) geocaches. great day, weather was in the high 50s, low 60s. it never did rain again—in fact, the weather was awesome.

canal towpath?
