Hikus Interruptus

1 mile 0mph

So there I was, doing what I assumed would be a nice 5 to 6 mile lollipop loop hike up the Escoheag Trail to the Sand Hill Trail to the Mount Tom Trail and back. It was a damp day, a bit drizzly, cool weather. All-in-all I was really looking forward to it. My legs were pretty much recovered from earlier in the week.

Then I slipped on a damp rock. Hours later, the X-ray would show 2 and possibly 3 separate breaks to my left ankle. But not before I had to be carried out of Arcadia by the kind gentlemen of Exeter’s volunteer fire and rescue department. (Thanks so much guys!)

I won’t know till later this week how long I will be out of commission—I have yet to consult with an orthopedic surgeon—but I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s going to be many months before I find myself back in the woods. I will keep you all posted.
