Lincoln Woods

i’ve posted about lincoln woods before, but that time i just walked the paved “paulson loop.” this post is about some actual hiking trails through the actual woods. i have revised the hikefinder to reflect this, also.
i found a trail map on facebook of the various equestrian and hiking trails through here, and thought i’d take a quick peek while i was in the area for other reasons. didn’t get to as much as i would have liked because the daylight was beginning to fade. there’s still a lot more to see.
there is a riding stable adjacent to lincoln woods, and i used to spend a lot of time on these trails when i was MUCH younger, but that time was actually spent on horseback and i didn’t really know the trails the way the horses did. i came across a couple of random blue blazes in my travels, but they were very few and far between, and basically pretty unhelpful. i also found a trail blazed with flourescent orange paint that looked like a technical mountain bike trail. there is some fairly rugged terrain through here, with rocks and steep ups and downs.
there is a pretty little hidden pond here called quinsicket pond. this area is, again, criss-crossed with trails, some of which are equestrian (watch your step!), some are mountain bike trails and some are footpaths. fortunately, lincoln woods is small and it’s pretty hard to get very lost here. i really need to come back and explore some more.
you can find the revised entry for lincoln woods in the hikefinder.
