Oklawaha Greenway Trail

6.8 miles; Hendersonville, NC

All I can think of when I look at the name of this trail is

But that’s not it. Forget it. Sorry for the earworm.

Today I just needed to get a longer walk in but didn’t need it to be so, uh, vertical as yesterday. This fit the bill perfectly. Not the nicest part of town, but fine, just fine, as a greenway that connects 4 city parks and a dog park.

Mud Creek

As I said, this 3-1/2 mile greenway connects 4 city parks through not the nicest part of town… I went through power line cuts, gas pipeline cuts, past the backs of factories, under roads, and by the city water treatment plant and mulch station. Still, I imagine it’s maybe nicer? In the summer? But hey, it was FINE.

Violets!

I saw my first wildflowers of the season.

Mourning Cloak Butterfly

And my first Mourning Cloak, too. So it wasn’t all bad. And the two anchoring parks, Jackson Park and Berkley Park, were very nice.
