Old Waynesborough Park, Goldsboro, NC

3.51 miles   2.7 mph

pretty tame, flat walk through a small park. nice views of the neuse river. walked as fast as i could to make it a decent walk. don’t know where they get 4 miles worth of trails, though. i doubled back on myself a couple times and still could only get 3 1/2 miles out of it.

old cemetery

this park was originally and old settlement called, uh, waynesborough. this was the cemetery for the settlement. i thought it was interesting that there was one old gravesite that was placed outside the perimeter fence. a suicide,  maybe? the stone wasn’t telling.

the neuse river

this part of the trail followed the banks of the neuse river. it was a wide, slow, muddy thing.

and of course, what post would be complete without a fungus shot? this is some turkey tail, and there is what looks like wild oats in the shot as well.

you can find out more about this park and see a trail map on the organization’s website: oldwaynesborough.org/trails.
