PCHC North-South Trail, Leg 2

8.17 miles; pascoag and glocester, ri
i walked a good part of this leg when i did the middle loop of the walkabout trail in april of 2013. this was a great hike, and we had beautiful weather; sunny and cool, still no bugs. i felt great, too, as if i could have walked another 8 miles. all in all it was a good day with good company.
this hike started from the fire tower on buck hill road in pascoag, ri, where we ended leg 1 last time. to do the car spot, we met at the terminus, which was in the george washington management area and campground in glocester, which was perfect, as there were several well-maintained portapotties. i love hikes with bathrooms!
i also like finding faces in things, and i was quite happy to find happy stump.
have i mentioned how perfect the day was? it was absolutely beautiful with a clear blue sky, which made this pond just glorious to behold.
the story of the creation of the walkabout trail (scroll down to about the 8th paragraph) is well-known, so i won’t recount it here. but there is a plaque to commemorate the australians’ contribution to rhode island’s open spaces.
i have not added this hike to my hikefinder. you can find info on the north-south trail here.
