Take-A-Hike’s 100th

4.37 miles; Hopkinton, RI
This was the Facebook “Take-A-Hike” group’s 100th hike, and our hike leader picked one of the prettiest places in RI, the Boy Scout camp Yawgoog in Hopkinton.
We had a decent turnout for this hike, a lot of the “usual suspects.” And the weather was cold and clear. We even saw a bit of ice here and there.
There isn’t much color left in the woods, but that really didn’t detract from the gorgeous views on offer.
We even saw a dinosaur. It looks very small, but just imagine that it’s very far away.
You can find out more about the trails in Camp Yawgoog from the excellent collection of pages titled “The Story of the Yawgoog Trails” by David Brierley. There’s even a wonderful (except for my pet peeve—North is not “up”) hand-drawn map of the camp. As always, click on the image, above, for details about this hike and to download the GPS track.
