Tefft Hill from the State Garage

i’ve been so neglectful of both this blog and my hiking lately! it’s been 2 whole weeks since the last time i was out and i haven’t posted anything at all in november. so today i decided to blow a little rust out on one of my favorite properties, with an eye towards adding it to my favorite hikes page.
i came across a fresh woodpecker hole in this old tree. i think this is a pileated woodpecker hole, but i’m not positive.
this hike takes in part of the north-south trail and includes the infamous boulder field.
i’ve traversed this field enough times in my life so that now i just take the convenient spur trail that circumvents the worst of it. all told it was a good way to blow the rust out and get back into the swing of hiking. just in time for december, almost!
