Ten Mile River Walk

9.5 miles; Pawtucket and East Providence, RI, and Seekonk, MA
So after hiking up Lantern Hill, I raced north to join the PCHC bunch on a ten-mile(ish) hike along the Ten Mile River Greenway and Central Pond in East Providence, Pawtucket, and Seekonk to get in my first real hike of the spring.
This was a car spot hike, and I was able to join the group at the trailhead. This was a hike through three towns (Pawtucket, East Providence, and Seekonk) and included the Ten Mile River Bike Path, the Turner Reservoir Loop Trail, trails at Bridgham Farm, Hunts Mills, the Seacunke Sanctuary, and the Gamino Pond Preserve. It also included about 2 miles of road walking, and I will include myself among the whiners about that. Sorry!
There was a special little detour to view the Newman Oak, a 400-year-old oak tree that was a meeting place and place of worship for early settlers in the area.
While not technically a wildflower, it was still pretty cool to see this bright and cheerful color on the trail.
We had a little rest stop at Hunts Mill, where the Ten Mile River Watershed Council has done a lot of work on the trail system.
I have not posted this hike to the hikefinder, but if I have time, I will add the individual trails. Stay tuned.
