West Warwick Bike Path 2

2.7 miles; West Warwick and Coventry, RI
I thought my last walk on the bike path was cold. I had NO IDEA. It was COLD this December morning at 8:00 am! If I recall correctly, it was about 16ºF.
This part of the Washington Secondary Bike Path goes through, appropriately, Arctic Village in West Warwick. Did I mention it was COLD OUT?
Oh, sure, West Warwick Greenway Kiosk. Tease us, whydontcha? Key West! At least we were headed in the correct direction…
In spite of the temperature we did enjoy the bright sunshine and blue skies. It was a pretty day. Pretty COLD.
Slick is a self-aware graffiti artist only in it for the Instagram posts. Sorry, Slick, I don’t do Instagram. I’m an Old. A cold Old.
We crossed the Pawtuxet River at this large dam, and the trees below it were encased in ice. I am told you could also see the Major General Nathanael Greene Homestead, an historic home in Coventry, from this spot. I had to take my fellow hiker’s word for that, though, because it was so cold my glasses fogged over and then the fog froze. I could barely see my hands. Again, in case you missed my earlier references to the temperature, it was COLD OUT.
You can find out more about and get maps of the Washington Secondary Bike Path at this RI Dept. of Transportation website. As always, click the image above for details about this hike and to download the gps track.
