What a Difference a Week Makes—Duval Trail

whew, much warmer this week. it was 47, not 7, when i got up this morning. unfortunately, there was still a lot of ice on the trail itself, which was also awash in meltwalter, making for a very tricky hike. and muddy; my pants were black from the knees down! but you can’t beat that temperature difference.
this is such a nice hike. it is an out-and-back which meanders through a hilly section of south kingstown. it was nice even under the poor trail conditions today. and we (the usual suspects and i) made note of some encouraging signs of spring in swelling buds on some trees and new growth on mountain laurels.
i love stone walls like this one… one thickness of stone, which makes them look almost lacy and unsubstantial. yet, there they are, and have been for many, many years.
